Can and will the people of Malaysia trust “the manifesto”?

Soon the people of Malaysia will start to vote.

Political parties are trying their best to win people hearts.

One of them are coming out with a manifestos.

You can have hundred or even thousand of manifestos to convince the people to support the party.

Why is the manifesto were prepared only during the election campaign?

Didn’t it look very obvious that the parties are trying hard to make promises that might not come true if they won? We have made the wrong choice because

1) Equality. We have given the privilege to our own kind rather than asking them to compete equally will all fairly.

2) Fairness. Special privilege that we gives out to our own kind has made us become lazy.

3) One. We have made schools & universities become the education of racism. Why? Because we have Sekolah Kebangsaan Melayu, Cina & India. Whereby can’t we have one type of school, which we call it, Sekolan Kebangsaan?

4) Solution. We have created so many departments; sections, division & etc that we have increase the problems rather than solving it.

5) Employment. Crime rates have gone up. Even university fresh graduates are too choosy to work because they complaint the pay is too low. The unemployed rather stay at home sleep & eat. Once they are running out of money, they have to steal, snatch & cheat. Is this the pride of Malaysia made of?

6) Truth. We have been talking about the pride of Malaysia? When I switched on the TV, they told me a story. When I surfed on the Internet, they told me another story. Those images & videos tell the truth.

7) Safe. I don’t think I have any value as a Malaysian if I can’t walk on the street feeling safe. I don’t think I am proud as a Malaysian, if one of us has to steal for food.

8) Love. Where did we go wrong? This is the question that all of us have been asking? Are religions making us to hate? No any religions in this world ask us to hate but we have created hate. There are still a human (or a beast) that willing to kill thousands of innocent in the name of religion.

9) Learn. We still have a long way to go. If we only compares to ourselves, yes we are the best. But if we compare ourselves with the others, we are nothing but tiny ants.

10) Life & Death. At the end. Some of us will be buried six feet under and some of us would like to be cremated. We will meet our maker & we will know the truth. Let’s us stop fighting & forget our differences. Yes, let us make this world a better place for our children to live.

Little Velerie need half a million ringgit for life-saving ops

(10-February-2008) JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA: When his baby girl was born last November, first-time father Jonathan Pillai Arul Jaga Nathan was overjoyed, but now he needs half a million ringgit for her to survive.

Jonathan needs this hefty amount to pay for surgery in Singapore for two-month-old Velerie Ann, who suffers from complex heart disease.

All appeared well when they took Velerie home from Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) here.

The couple’s nightmare began four days later when Velerie’s lips and skin turned blue. She was not feeding well and her cries were weak, said Tio Minar Tobing, 23, Velerie’s mother.

Velerie was rushed to HSA, where she was placed in intensive care and treated for a viral infection and swollen heart and lungs. Her medical reports were sent to the National Heart Institute (IJN), where she was diagnosed with cyanotic heart disease.

The condition is a congenital heart defect that results in low oxygen levels in the blood and causes the child’s lips, fingers, and toes to look blue.

Jonathan said IJN told him that surgery would give his baby just a 30% chance of survival. But even then, no relevant specialist was available in the country.

Shocked, the couple went to Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital for a second opinion where they were told that Velerie would have a 70% chance of survival if three surgeries were done. However, the cost would be S$211,000 (RM481,000), which Jonathan said he did not have.

“I emptied my life savings to pay the deposit of RM23,000 for Velerie’s first surgery and I need to pay the hospital another RM342,479 before they perform the second surgery.

“Every month, I’m only left with about RM200 after paying for house and car loans,” said the sole breadwinner, who works as an assistant manager in a Singapore restaurant.

Meanwhile, state DAP chairman Dr Boo Cheng Hau said he hoped the country would have enough specialists in future so that such surgeries could be done locally.

Donations can be sent by cheque to Skudai Catholic Centre Johor Baru, Parish Office for Human Development, or banked into Public Bank account 314 628 5324.

Muszaphar dreams of becoming pilot after contract with Govt ends

PENANG: After being in outer space and serving the people as an orthopaedic surgeon on the ground, angkasawan Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor has now set his sights on the sky.

The surgeon hopes to become a pilot after finishing his contract with the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.

“I encourage everyone to diversify. The reason I do many things in life is to see how far I can go.

“I also hope to spend some time in Africa working with the children there,” Dr Sheikh Muszaphar, 35, said during a visit to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) yesterday.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar, a part-time model who owns a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, is also trying out his hand in writing.

He has written a book that chronicles his space-training, the angkasawan selection process and his personal experiences in space. The book is set for release in July this year.

“I have also discovered that before my brother died, he had written about his perspective of my journey to become an angkasawan.

“As a tribute to him, I’m releasing his book first next month,” Dr Sheikh Muszaphar said.

The late Sheikh Mustafa Shukor Al Masrie died at the age of 32, just days after the angkasawan returned to earth last October.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar was in Penang for a one-day visit on invitation by USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.

“It’s a special occasion as my brother was a Housing, Building and Planning graduate from USM and this is the first university I have visited to share my experiences from space,” he said.

Joined by Prof Dzulkifli and former International Amateur Radio Union Region 3 director Sangat Singh, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar participated in a forum to exchange views on space exploration and the nation’s space programme.

The Dewan Tunku Syed Putera in USM was filled to capacity with more than 3,000 people grabbing the chance to see Malaysia’s first angkasawan in the flesh.

In a press conference after the event, Prof Dzulkifli said the flight of Malaysia’s first angkasawan into space had prompted the university to soon set up an amateur radio station on campus.

“The ham radio (amateur radio) was used to communicate with Dr Sheikh when he was in space and I believe there are already a few people in USM who are experienced with it,” he added.

HINDRAF: Open up your mind & eyes, look around you..

Thank you for all the comments and critics in this blog regarding about HINDRAF.

Many have written in and give their point of view.

As I said early in my other article, I am not a politician nor interested in politic.

The reasons I write because I am interested in the issue have been created today in our world and so does others.

I must admit when I first heard about HINDRAF from my friends, it was really interesting talking about our rights. They were so convincing that their rights have been taken away. And I still can recall one of them told me that they have a copy of declaration of independents that shows that the rights of their people have been taken away. But when I asked for that copy, it never did reach me.

When the protest happened, thank God I was in India or else I would have joined my friends blindly to the protest and end up in of the jail. I stupidly thought that it was going to be cool.

When I was in India, I read all about what was going on in Malaysia in the newspaper. Most in the newspaper here have been giving a very negative side of Malaysia during the HINDRAF issue. I was really sad at that time.

It was also a good time for me to sit down and think about the truth on HINDRAF allegations. At the end, I thought about writing the article in my website and hoping that others will write in and share their point of views.

To my surprise, it hit more that 1000 on that day.

Many comments were given, good and bad but still I read it with an open mind.

Too many news about hate have been published in the news. We have been forgotten about the good things that we have in our country. We were not satisfied because we could not get more. We forgot how to share. We start to make comparison but we forget about the simple rule of life that is love.

HINDRAF: Malaysia Indians have achieved much, more needed..

Filed under: Malaysia, Politics, Religion, World, World Peace — Tags: , , , — johnnytan88 @ 5:01 pm

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Malaysian Indians have achieved progress in various fields over the last 50 years, although more needs to be done to make them competitive in the face of globalised realities, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said here.

He said more than 80% of them were concentrated in urban areas compared to 60% that previously lived and worked in the estates.

“This migration has provided better incomes for the Indian families,” he said in a statement Sunday.

He said 847,900 Indians were in the workforce currently, 11.5% of them professionals and managers, 19.4% associated professors, lecturers and nurses, 22.9% in sales, 4.9% in agriculture, 9.4% in craft and trade, 20.1% of them machine operators and 16.3% elementary workers.

Samy Vellu said about 2.9% of Indian households were below the poverty line but the mean monthly household income of Indian families was RM3,456, compared to the national figure of RM3,022.

He said 46,054 Indians were employed in the public sector with another 3,642 in the police force.

On the participation of Indians in the economy, Samy Vellu said there was a slow increase in the present 1.2% ownership of share capital of limited companies because many Indians believed in investing in property and not in the share market.

“Investing in property is also a good move as the price of property will appreciate,” he said.

He said MIC obtained micro-credit business loans for 4,000 Indian businessmen over the past few years through Bank Negara and financial institutions.

“We have also assisted in getting business licences for Indian businessmen,” he said.

Samy Vellu said the Government provided business-training programs to Indian youths through the National Entrepreneur Skills institute while RM3mil has been allocated for business loans for Indians through the Tekun foundation.

On education, he said 2,447 Indians were offered places in public universities in the 2007 intake.

Angkasawan Hurt in Tussle with Robbers..

Malaysian Angkasawan Mej Dr Faiz Khaleed sustained injuries in a robbery after two parang-wielding men attacked him and a friend outside his house in Taman Mawar, Cheras, here early Wednesday. Dr Faiz was slashed on his left hand in the 2am incident. He did not lose anything, but the robbers snatched a gold chain from his friend.

He has been admitted to the Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre in Jalan Ampang here and his condition was reported as stable.

At the hospital, his mother Mazenah Mohamad said Dr Faiz had gone to have supper with two other friends at about 11pm on Tuesday, and returned home later.

”One of the robbers pushed my son and he fell while the other robber placed a parang on the neck of my son’s friend,” she said.

Mazenah said her son got up and tried to fight with the two men and was slashed.

“At this point, he pressed the auto gate remote and when the door started to open, the two suspects fled,” she added.

While fleeing , one of the suspects managed to snatch the friend’s chain.

A team of policemen arrived at the hospital around 6pm and took a statement from Dr Faiz.

Dr Faiz, who is a military dentist, was shortlisted along with orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor to be the first Malaysian in space. On Oct 10, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar made history by becoming the first Malaysian to fly to space.
