Father’s Day Special

Filed under: General, Malaysia, Motivation, Short Story, Thoughts, World, World Peace — johnnytan88 @ 7:33 pm

There were times you came home late at night.

There were times you missed my play at school.

There were times you don’t even want to listen to my explanations.

There were times I don’t understand you.

There were times I hate you so much.

I tried so hard to make you proud.

I tried so hard to be the son you want me to be.

I tried so hard to be perfect.

I tried so hard to make you understand.

I tried so hard to make you love me.

Now I am just like you.

I am a grown man.

I am a husband.

I am a father.

I grew up to be just like you.

One day, I picked up the phone and called my father.

It was his birthday.

I told him that I always hated him that I forgot how to love him.

I thank him for being a wonderful father for all these living years.

Without him I couldn’t have made it.

I told my father that I love him and I am going to make up all the lost times.

He told me that he have been waiting for me to say those words for years.

He died peacefully in his sleep the next day.

To all the father,

Happy father’s day!

Mother’s Day Special: 8 Lies of a Mother

Filed under: Malaysia, Motivation, Short Story, Thoughts, World — johnnytan88 @ 8:04 pm

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn’t enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she would say ‘Eat this rice, son! I’m not hungry.’ This was Mother’s First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit more nutritious food for my growth. Once she had caught just two fish, she would make fish soup. While I was eating the soup, mother would sit beside me and eat what was still left on the bone of the fish I had eaten; my heart was touched when I saw it. Once I gave the other fish to her on my chopstick but she immediately refused it and said, ‘Eat this fish, son! I don’t really like fish. ‘This was Mother’s Second Lie.

Then, in order to fund my education, Mother went to a Match Factory to bring home some used matchboxes, which she filled with fresh matchsticks. This helped her get some money to cover our needs. One wintry night I awoke to find Mother filling the matchboxes by candlelight. So I said, ‘Mother, go to sleep; it’s late: you can continue working tomorrow morning. ‘Mother smiled and said ‘Go to sleep, son! I’m not tired.’ This was Mother’s Third Lie

When I had to sit my Final Examination, Mother accompanied me. After dawn, Mother waited for me for hours in the heat of the sun. When the bell rang, I ran to meet her…  Mother embraced me and poured me a glass of tea that she had prepared in a thermos. The tea was not as strong as my Mother’s love, Seeing Mother covered with perspiration, I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too Mother said ‘Drink, son! I’m not thirsty!’ This was Mother’s Fourth Lie.

After Father’s death, Mother had to play the role of a single parent. She held on to her former job; she had to fund our needs alone. Our family’s life was more complicated. We suffered from starvation. Seeing our family’s condition worsening, my kind Uncle who lived near my house came to help us solve our problems big and small. Our other neighbors saw that we were poverty stricken so they often advised my mother to marry again. But Mother refused to remarry saying ‘I don’t need love.’ This was Mother’s Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and gotten a job, it was time for my old Mother to retire but she carried on going to the market every morning just to sell a few vegetables. I kept sending her money but she was steadfast and even sent the money back to me. She said, ‘I have enough money.’ That was Mother’s Sixth Lie.

I continued my part-time studies for my Master’s Degree. Funded by the American Corporation for which I worked, I succeeded in my studies. With a big jump in my salary, I decided to bring Mother to enjoy life in America but Mother didn’t want to bother her son; she said to me ‘I’m not used to high living.’ That was Mother’s Seventh Lie

In her dotage, Mother was attacked by cancer and had to be hospitalized. Now living far across the ocean, I went home to visit Mother who was bedridden after an operation. Mother tried to smile but I was heartbroken because she was so thin and feeble but Mother said, ‘Don’t cry, son!  I’m not in pain.’ That was Mother’s Eighth Lie.

Telling me this, her eighth lie, she died.

 YES, MOTHER WAS AN ANGEL!

 M - O - T - H - E - R

‘M’        is for the Million things she gave me,

‘O’        means only that she’s growing old,

‘T’         is for the Tears she shed to save me,

‘H’        is for her Heart of gold,

‘E’        is for her Eyes with love-light shining in them,

‘R’        means Right, and right she’ll always be, Put them all together, they spell ‘MOTHER’ a word that means the world to me.

For those of you who are lucky to be still blessed with your Mom’s presence on Earth, this story is beautiful. For those who aren’t so blessed, this is even more beautiful…

Asian Godfather.. The Ice Room ®

Filed under: Business, Malaysia, Short Story, World, World Peace — Tags: , — johnnytan88 @ 10:53 am

This is the last room you want to be. Ice room is actually a torture room. You rather be dead than to be in the Ice room.

Ice room is actually a freezer where we kept our stuff to remain fresh. I can’t tell you the exact location because we have few Ice rooms around Asia.

Only Godfather can authorize the team to use the Ice room. Before the victim was brought to the Ice room, he will be blindfolded & the hands and leg will be tied by cable tie.

Godfather does not want anybody to know the location of the Ice room. Godfather only let few of his trusted godson to handle the Ice room.

Once the team reached the destination, the team will wear the leather jumper to keep the team warm. The team will also wear mask to ensure the victim does not recognized anyone of them.

After we done, we will remove the blindfold and the cable tie from the victim. We will strip him naked.  Godfather has designed a special wrist & ankle tie to the victim that his or her hand will spread out when we control it at the other end.

There will be a big block of ice, 3 feet high by 4 feet width by 7 ft length. The team will get the victim to lie on the thick block of ice.  The longest record time that a victim is able to withstand without feeling the pain is 5 minutes.

Once the skin touches almost zero degree, the victim will feel the numb and after awhile the pain. If the victim still does not admit his or her wrongdoing or give us the information that Godfather needed, the team go to plan B.

Plan B: The team will splash a bucket of water on the victim’s body. At this time, the victim will feel extra cold and the water that drip down to the block of ice will causes the victim skins to frostbite.  The victim can’t move his or her body too much.

If the victim tried too move too hard, the skin will tear and stick to the block of ice. The coldness of the Ice room made the victim’s blood flow very slow and it will not mess up the place. So far, the team has a 100% success rate of getting information from the enemies.

As soon as the team gets the information needed, the team will release the victim.

The team encourages the victim to tell others about the Ice room.

The Emperor & The Knight..

Once upon a time, there was a powerful empire (BN) that served the kingdom with fairness & equality. The land was rules by the emperor that care much for the people (rakyat). The people love him and his kingdom.

After serving the rakyat for so many years (22 years to be exact), the emperor thought it was time to name his successor. Many of his generals & advisors did not want him to give up his post but he insisted.

He named the successor.

Now came the new emperor, he used to be a very wise. Rules the kingdom like the previous emperor did. He uses to go from town to town to check upon people’s conditions & complaints. After sometimes, he begins to neglect his duty.

The emperor let his son-in-law to be in charge on most of the important things. Even his generals & advisors that followed him for so many years were worried & do not understand. The enemies started to gather the story about the emperor & his son in law.

The news spread that the new emperor didn’t care much about the rakyat. The new emperor only cared about his family & people that close him. The new emperor only care about getting more gold & silver from the people. The people were getting tired and sad due to the high taxes (oil & tolls) that the people had to pay.

The new emperor has changed it stripe. Now the people hate the new emperor. Now the empire becomes feared by the people because it was rule by the new emperor’s son in law. And this is a story about an empire that we built by a great emperor and then collapsed due to another emperor.

Now, we are living in the era of cyber space. An old wise emperor who steps down long time ago asked the new emperor to conduct a post mortem. A post mortem that the people have already has the answer; except for the old wise emperor that saw half of his empire that he has built came crumbling down.

But it was a clear view that the people were sad oppressed by the corrupted generals & advisors. The people have suffered long enough. The people had voice out but the new emperor does not care. The new emperor ordered his generals to put these men into the dungeon to keep their mouth shut.

The people were sad by the depression that cause by the new emperor & his men. The people seek help elsewhere but were rejected due to the cover up within the kingdom. The emperor has been sleeping while his generals & advisors taking the opportunities to get more gold & silver from the rakyat.

The generals & advisors were making the people suffers; by putting a high taxes (oil & tolls) on the villagers. The people have no way to go. The people have no where to ask for help One day, a knight appeared which once the old emperor has banished. He came to help the people.

The people do not really know what this knight true attention is but the people knew that he is a savior. This knight can really talk and capture people’s heart. This knight said we need to reform in order to wake up the new emperor. This knight has once been in and out of the palace.

This knight knew what was going on and he is going to reveal the truth. This knight has offended the emperor before and he did not die. They have put this knight into the dungeon of death (ISA); tortured him and left him to die. This knight waited patiently like a tiger waited for his prey.

The new dawn is about to come, the knight searched and looked for the crack in the emperor’s wall. This knight has found out that his chance has come; it is time to show the people the truth & justice.

Trust (Part II)..

At last, I have read the letter that I sent to my buddy in Australia in 1997.

I, myself forget what it was like to write a letter & using snail mail.

The ten years old letter reflex back what kind of a man I was and what kind of a man I am now.

To fall in love with the same girl with my best friend. Betrayal from my best friend.

Looking back in time and fast-forward it to now, I started to believe divine interventions has every reason to play a role in my life.

Of course, the girl now is my best friend’s wife now.

But looking both of them together, which I thank myself making the right choice; to let go.

Knowing that sometime at that very moment you think that life have been unfair to you but life is actually trying to help you.

You hurt someone else in the process, which now you tend to regret.

Blaming others for not understand you. Isolate yourself in the real world. Crying over nothing. At the end, you just brush yourself up and walk again.

I am happy man now. At least I know that I am happier than 10 years back.

These 10 years learning process has it own toll to pay but it is worth it.

Lesson #1: Help yourself first if you want to help others.

Lesson #2: Don’t think that every friend is your friend.

Lesson #3: Choose few good friends to keep.

Lesson #4: Never hurt others if you don’t want to hurt yourself.

And the rest of the world can kiss my a**! ~ Eminem

Thank you my friend for the letter.

Trust

A close friend of my just called me up and told me he found a letter which I wrote to him 10 years ago.

The first thing that caught my mind was it a good or bad letter.

He told me he would show it to me when we meet up tomorrow.

He gave me some hints on what’s in the letter but the main point is about trusting someone. Over 10 years, trusting someone is still hard to do.

Even with 30 years of experience, you thought that you know a person and at the end they betrayed you.

Anyway, tomorrow we will have our school reunion. The last time we I saw some of my friends were 17 - 20 years ago.

Well, look how time has passed us by? From New Kid on the Block to the real Hangin’ Tough world.

Life has not been an easy ride for me. Thinking back about what I have done and what I have not done.

Learning to be patience is the best test of time. Knowing that you wanted to buy some thing so bad but you couldn’t afford it until you have enough saving to have it. But when you have enough saving to have it, you just don’t want it anymore.

Thanking to those few people in life that changed the way you think about the world. To those few persons that made you a better man.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Neither Gold nor silver will ever be enough to pay you all with the wisdom that you have given me.

Lesson #1: It is alright to be disappointed. Life is always about disappointment but don’t stop believing in yourself. Prove to the world that they are wrong.

PS: I went to Genting last months with my two good buddies which both of them have kids. 20 years back we were so crazy about Genting, we were so crazy about the roller coaster write, can’t wait to get old enough to enter casino.

But now, it is the children time to have good time. As parents, we had to watch some of our kids nagging wanted to go in the rides. We have to go and change the tokens for the rides.

Memories of C..

He I am, in front of you.

I don’t know what to say.

I don’t know what to do.

Should I be crying or should I be smiling?

Is He being too kind or cruel?

I am crying because you are no longer here with me.

There’s nobody for me to talk too anymore.

There’s nobody for me to scold when I am under pressure.

I got nothing to love anymore.

And I am happy because you are with Him.

There is no more pain.

Your suffering have ended.

I know I will get over this feeling soon.

You told me to move on if you are no longer around.

Your memories will still remains until we meet again.

God must have loved you much more than I do that’s why He is taking you back to his house.

Please remember me if you see me somewhere again.

Asian Godfather.. Assassination ®

The samurai sword that I carried was getting heavier and heavier after the fight at club Monaco.

Rain was falling down and it helps me to clean up the blood on my body.

Some bloodstains still stuck on my white shirt.

Behind the alley, I was hiding, I didn’t know how many had died in the fight but I knew that I survived.

I felt the pain on my arm from the cut.

I looked at the cut and it was a deep cut.

I need to go somewhere to clean up myself.

Monaca’s Club was a club that Godfather usually hangs out.

As usually, part of the club belongs to Godfather.

It served Japanese foods but I don’t know why it called Club Monaco.

Once Kidd told me it called Club Monaco because Godfather went to Monaca and felt in love with the place there but it still doesn’t make sense.

The rival group dragon Inc. was planning to assassinated Godfather, it was a well-planned set-up.

Godfather was lucky, when we reached the club; I felt the urge to release myself, I went to the washroom, which was at the back of the club.

While I was passing through, I accidentally knocked on the guy shoulder, I saw a tattoo mark on his arm and from that moment on I felt something fishy.

I rushed to Godfather and whispered it in his ear and later he asked Kidd and I to check the kitchen.

True enough, most of the working stuffs looked suspicious.

We tried to call the person in charge of the club but we couldn’t get him on the line.

Later we found out he and the whole families were murdered due to his loyalty to Godfather.

We went to our car to get our equipments.

We went into the club pretended nothing happened.

We waited for the culprit to show up.

Love Story

Chapter 1

The world stopped for a moment when both of them met eye to eye.

How long it has been?

15 years?

Wow! Looks how the time has past us by.

The last time we met were the time we decided to go on our separate ways.

Life was too unkind for both of us.

We were young and we need to move on.

She went to the States to continue her study and I was here taking my degree in local university.

Chapter 2

“Hello, how are you?” I smiled

“Hi, I am fine” she smiled back.

“How long it has been? 15 years” I questioned her.

“Yes, it have been 15 years!” she replied. “What are you doing now?

I mean your occupation.” I asked her.

“Ï am a doctor now” she answered “I own a clinic” she concluded.

“Then I must address you as a Doctor” I said.

Both of us laughed.

Chapter 3

She was studying afternoon section and I was in the morning.

Thanks to my sister that I knew her.

I started writing letters to her.

At that time, there were no such things called e-mail.

She started to reply.

Our love starts to grow.

We met in the afternoon, when she was about to finish her schooling and I was about to starts mine.

During the weekend, we used to talk on the phone for hours until both of our parents have to nag us to stop using the phone for so long.

Chapter 4

“Are you free to have a cup of coffee?” I requested.

“Well, I got 30 minutes” she said.

“I need to get back to my clinic,” she concluded.

Chapter 5

“Hot chocolate, right?”

I asked her.

It was her favorite drink when we were dating.

“Yes, you still remember” she looked at me and gave me the surprised smile.

Chapter 6

We were sitting in the café.

The whole world just passed us by.

“Where are you staying now?” I asked her.
